CURIOSITY OVER STIGMA. FACTS OVER FEAR.

STRAIGHTFORWARD QUESTIONS. THOUGHTFUL ANSWERS.

Cannabis questions, without the jargon.

You do not have to know the terminology to ask a useful question. These answers are starting points, not individualized advice.

What is the difference between cannabis, THC, and CBD?

Cannabis refers to the plant and products made from it. THC and CBD are compounds found in cannabis. THC is responsible for much of the intoxicating effect. CBD does not produce the same high, but it can still have side effects and interact with medicines. See NCCIH’s cannabis and cannabinoid overview.

Is Delta-8 automatically a safer beginner option?

No. A description such as milder does not establish safety or predict an individual’s response. Delta-8 is intoxicating, and the FDA has raised concerns about adverse events, manufacturing processes, and products that have not been evaluated or approved for safe use. Read the FDA’s Delta-8 consumer guidance.

Why do people accidentally take too much of an edible?

Effects can be delayed, so someone may take more before the first amount has fully taken effect. Edible effects may also last longer than expected. Keep cannabis products separate from ordinary food and securely away from children and pets. See the CDC’s guidance on edibles and poisoning.

Can someone develop a problem with cannabis use?

Yes. Cannabis use disorder can involve difficulty controlling use even when it causes problems. Tolerance and withdrawal can occur. Frequency of use, age at initiation, and product potency are relevant considerations. The CDC describes signs of cannabis use disorder.

Is THC safe for driving just because it is not alcohol?

No. THC can impair attention, coordination, and other skills needed to drive. Combining cannabis and alcohol can increase impairment. Do not drive while impaired, and do not rely on feeling comfortable as proof of safe performance. Read the CDC’s cannabis health-effects overview.

Do I need to support cannabis use to learn about it?

Not at all. Understanding a subject and choosing to participate are different decisions. THC & Me welcomes thoughtful skepticism and respects abstinence. Read our purpose or send a question for future coverage.
